Something new!

THE END IS NEAR...

Hello world,

Yes... the end is near! I have about two weeks left in Kuching and I feel like I still have so much to do here. I still cannot believe I've been here over 5 months already... like what the hell, time really does fly when you're having fun!

The past few months I have been quite busy with work, but also with having fun. The day after my holiday week with mom, grandma & aunty I flew to Miri for the Borneo Jazz Festival (9-10 May). Unfortuantely, I did not get to experience much of the festival, since I had to work, but the 1 band I saw was very impressive! Thankfully, I had great company of my colleagues which made the time go by really fast.

The only band I've seen: BrassBallett

After two weeks of freedom I had to go back to the office... and work again :(, but thankfully I had a few fun events in between. Mid May I went to the Sarawak Cultural Village and the Damai Puri Resort for a travel agents event, which was a fun evening for the travel agents (and me . Before going to SCV we were invited to drink cocktails + eat snacks and relax at the beach. After having some cocktails we went to SCV, to the Iban longhouse, to celebrate pre-Gawai. FOOD + DRINKS + DANCE + FUN pretty much sums up the evening.

At the end of May, on a random Saturday I FINALLY went to Bako National Park (Sarawak's oldest national park). After 4 months of being in Kuching I hadn't visit the national park yet (shame xd). Thus, that day it was finally time to go. Around 6.45am I woke up, because my friend would pick me up at 7.30am to guide me @ Bako NP. We first went for breakfast, at one of the local shops and we ate laksa. After that we were on our way to the NP, which took about 20/25 minutes. Towards the NP we saw that there were less clouds, because on the way it was POURING with showers of rain. I was prepared though, because I brought my umbrella, poncho and towel with me ahahah. At arrival at the boat terminal we had to wait for others to take the shuttle boat to the NP. After 20 minutes on the boat we arrived at Bako NP and as soon as we arrived we saw the famous pro hibiscus monkey aka MONYET/ORANG BELANDA. They are called like that, because back in the days they thought the monkeys looked like the Dutch with their big bellies & noses xd. Next, we registered at HQ and decided what trails to do. We quickly decided to do two trails: pandan kecil & paku. The first hundred meters I was already DYING, because I am not in shape + it was hot as FUUUUCCCCCCK. However, there was no way I could stop in the middle of the rainforest (no choice) and thus we proceeded. We started at 11am and around 2pm we finished doing the two trails. MISSION COMPLETED! I must say I am rather proud of myself, and all that huffing & puffing was totally worth it after seeing the breathtaking view!

BEAU-TI-FULLL!
The third week of June was filled with two events. First up was Borneo World Music  Expo 2014 (16-18 June), which was a music business event including showcases. These three days were exhausting, mainly because there was not much to do (yeah I know, contradictory). Anyways despite not having much to do during the event, I had a great time with the green team :)!

The green team :D!
After 0.5 day rest it was time to go to the Sarawak Cultural Village for the Rainforest World Music Festival 2014 (20-22 June). Together with my personal driver/partner in crime Kim we went around 11am and chilled there for the rest of the afternoon. In the evening we had a welcoming dinner on the beach, with two performances from local bands. The three festival days were so much fun even though it was hella exhausting! It was amazing to see bands from different parts of the world playing music (together) and make sure everybody had a great time. And the workshops that were given by the performers was definitely one of my highlights of the festival! Besides, of course the aiskrim goreng ahahah. AMAZEBALLS!

Best ice-cream EVER !

My team :D

Last Sunday I went to Matang Wildlife Centre, to see the orangutans, birdies & honey bears. It was really nice to see the orangutans, because they look so funny, cute & cuddle. Except for mr. Aman aka the alpha male. He looked like he was ready to eat someone. However, he did pose for the camera, keeping the same face in every picture. Such a DQ hahaha. The honey bears were just chill in' and the bird were sitting as if they were in a photoshoot... so funny. I also saw a hornbill for the first time during my stay here in Kuching. You know they say Sarawak is the land of the hornbills, but uhh... yeah that Sunday was the first time I saw one ahhaha.

Mr. Aman

Yeah I just inserted more food pictures, because what is Kuching without good food aahahah. Also, added some random pictures from previous weeks :D

Siniawan (Chinese) night market

These past weeks/months have been wonderful & I couldn't have asked for better company (as in  persons ahaha). The end of the festivals have also made me realize that the end is near... REALLY NEAR! I have about 2 weeks left & I can't believe time has gone by soooo fast. This sounds so dramatic already & it is not the end yet.

Oh well, maybe this is my last blog, maybe not.. I'll see lahhh.
